Pure black tea is either single source variety or a blend of different teas. They are all unflavored with no other ingredients. Each of these teas has a wide range of styles and origin. Stronger teas are usually the Assamica variety - those from Indian and Africa. Assam and Darjeeling are some of the famous growing regions Ceylon teas are known for their bright, piquant characteristics. The Chinese varieties (Camelia) vary widely. They aren't as strong as their Indian counterparts, but have distinctive flavor notes not found in other black teas. We recommend sampling different varieties to get a feel for the different styles.

Wakoucha is a Japanese black tea. Yes, you read that correctly. In a country most known for green tea, Wakoucha is a rare gem indeed. This organic Wakoucha brews a clear amber red and has a sweet aroma with hints of honey. It has a sweet and malty flavor with hints of stone fruit and chrysanthemum. This is a rare tea indeed as the best Wakoucha comes from the summer harvest, when tea plants are hit hardest by pests. Being an organic tea there are no pesticides used, making the plants even more susceptible and rare.
