Description

The first chai was made thousands of years ago in India with spicy herbs such as ginger, cardamom, and cinnamon. Based on the healing tradition of Ayurvedic medicine, the blend was formulated to energize and rejuvenate. Later, adding black tea became the trend and the world has been obsessed with chai ever since. Our Masala Chai has all the classic bold flavors you crave and tastes best with frothed milk. You can even brew the tea directly in warm milk for a decadent treat.

Customers praised this chai as "rich, complex" with "wonderful aroma" and bold, authentic spice blend. Many compared it favorably to chain coffee shops but with controllable sugar. Works well with milk or black. Some found certain ingredients like chicory root or aniseed not to their taste, though most rated it highly flavorful.

Love this Chai!

Love this Chai! Reminds me of what I get from some of the big chain tea houses, but I get to control the sugar. Has a wonderful aroma and the finished tea is aromatic and very flavorful.

Bold, well-blended flavor

Very good, but not as good as the Green Tea Chai

A top-tier chai

One of my favorite teas from WK, I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did! It's a very rich, complex flavor and it's perfect with a splash of milk or just black.

Not For Me

I’m trying out different Masala Chias to see which blend of ingredients I like, but after getting a sample I now know I’m not a fan of Chicory Root or Aniseed. That might not be the case for you so I would still recommend getting a sample to try it!

Very Nice

I really enjoy Masala Chai tea, and while this one was good, it wasn't my favorite. That said, I would still definitely recommend it.

Love this Tea

I opened the bag and thought I didn't like the smell. Not what I was expecting. Once I brewed and tasted. I am impressed. It brightened a Rainy afternoon. I will order more. Different from other Marsala Chai I have tried. A pleasing choice none the less.

Chai this

This chai is wonderful. I drink it in the evening as my dessert, with a little honey and milk. I used to spend $$ going out to get chai. Now I have it even better at home.

Nice Blend

This is a good Masala Chai blend of the classic flavors. It has a nice mixture of cloves, cinnamon, and anise with subtle hints of ginger and pepper. When using milk or creme, I make it a little extra strong and add some honey, but it's also good on its own.

Excellent morning blend

I make a 24 oz insulated tumbler of this for breakfast mixed with milk for breakfast. Very tasty and a wonderful smell.

My favorite

This is thus far my favorite choi tea. The aroma and flavor is heavenly. Add a little half and half, then, BAM! and 3 spoonful of organic honey....it brings out it's natural flavor!!!

High on Chai!

Whistling Kettle's Masala Chai is the best I've found on line. I have friends from India who have served me their home brew version of what they grew up with. Whistling Kettle's Masala Chai is comparable. Why travel to Bombay when you can enjoy the Masala Chai at home that is just as good!!!

Great with milk

While I usually don't put extra stuff in my tea, I found that this has a good flavor, but is a bit overpowering at times. So I add a little milk, and sometmes some sugar, and I get a great tea!

How do you brew it? Is it tea bags?

The Whistling Kettle

Hello!

Our loose leaf tea provides much more flavor and depth than what you'd find in a traditional tea bag. You can use an infuser, such as our Steepster, to brew the tea. Please see https://www.thewhistlingkettle.com/collections/tea-steepers-infusers-and-filters/products/steepster for more information on that.

We also do sell custom tea bags that are larger to accomodate the bigger size of loose leaf tea, you can find those at https://www.thewhistlingkettle.com/collections/tea-steepers-infusers-and-filters/products/wk-tea-bags

Thank you!

I have a Christmas request for chai tea WITHOUT licorice - no other details. What would you suggest?

The Whistling Kettle

None of our Chai's have licorice. Any of them will work. Masala Chai is the standard. There is always a chai sampler as well.

S
SwT

Can you even call it chai if it does not include cardamon pods?

The Whistling Kettle

Absolutely - there is no definition or requirement that a Chai has to contain or not contain specific ingredients. In Western markets, it implies some level of spices. We offer at least 4 other Chai's with cardamom.
