Iron Goddess of Mercy Oolong (Ti Kuan Yin)

Product information

Description

This delicate oolong is grown in China's high hilltops among fresh streams and cool, crisp air. Tender leaves are gently basket tossed immediately after harvesting, then semi-oxidized and carefully rolled. Each cup is light and refreshing, easing the mind of all worries. Sweet scents of orchids and honeycomb waft up from the tea as it brews. According to legend, an iron statue of a merciful Bodhisattva came alive and blessed a poor farmer with a magical tea plant. Iron Goddess of Mercy Oolong is a must-try tea steeped in culture and history.

Wow, me and my friend tried this tea and WOW!

Wow, me and my friend tried this tea and WOW! We had never had tea before, only having drank exclusively apple juice and whole milk since birth, this is SO good! Can't believe we've been missing out. Will be back for more!

    Great powerful Oolong

I'm not sure how I'd describe the flavor, but it is great. It's strong, almost earthy, and I can tell it's been made the same way, grown in the same place, and mastered for a very long time. Definitely a favorite, so much so that I had to import some myself (TWK still has great prices for everyone, I just went a bit overboard). I've got about 2 pounds of this tea from TWK so far and I will be getting more!

Versitile and forgiving, paradoxical, like the union of iron and mercy

I've had this tea, or versions of it, since the late 90s. I tend to be highly imprecise in brewing it in that I generally dump some into hot water and drink it from under-brewed, through perfectly brewed, and well into over-brewed, and this tea handles that entire range well. Sure it might get grassy after it's been in water for a couple of hours, but for a coder sitting at his desk and sipping all through the day it's a great fit!

    YUM!

Of all the different teas I recently purchased from here, this is possibly my favorite! It’s very light but delicious. Reminiscent of silver white needle tea in my opinion.

    Strong

This iron goddess tea was a little strong for me for an oolong tea. Still will enjoy it.

    Sharing Oolong

So glad I ordered more than a sample of Iron Goddess of Mercy tea. It's Summer here and this tea is so refreshing cold sweetened with Stevia. I am happy to find TWK as I wanted bulk teas and so I tried 3 blends. I am in Tea heaven. Ordered on a Saturday and received by Tuesday in lower South.

    Iron Goddess of Mercy Oolong

I tried this tea for the first time. I brewed it at 200 degrees F. and tried steeping it for 3 to 5 minutes. I felt the taste was too subtle. I could not detect much taste. I prefer milk oolong.

    Awesome tea!!!

Ordered the Oolong Iron Goddess tea and two days later it was at my door. Friendly service, knowledgeable staff and a problematical web site that told me they didn't deliver to MA. ... They do!

    Aromatic and lovely

I absolutely love this oolong. Oolong is my preferred tea partially because of the wide range of flavors. This one is fresh and clean with beautiful floral aromas. This is the tea that makes me loyal to The Whistling Kettle

    Great

Despite being an oolong-tea, this drink has a very light green-tea flavour that is reminiscent of fallen leaves and fresh snow. Over all very good.

Good green tea with no fluff. Forgiving with imprecise steep times. Second step is usually my favorite!

Iron Godess of Mercy is a lot of Goodness

I like oolongs, and this one is especially good. It has a fresh green taste, much softer than a sencha, yet noticeable and pleasant. I don't like heating it to 200 degrees, per the instructions. I feel 175 is enough to brew it well.

Strong at first but mellows with subsequent steepings

My first cup of this tea I didn't think I would enjoy. It has a very strong smell and taste. I could only describe it as a very heavy cup of tea. Subsequent steepings yielded a milder flavor and a more enjoyable taste. I enjoyed this one.

Tried them all, this is the best

I went a little nuts and bought samples of a bunch of Ti Kuan Yin from different vendors. All of them were blind tests, because I wanted to see if the price made any difference, but this tea won my test. It was that much better...
