Product information

Description

A deep, smoky aroma wafts from the cup, like the smell of a cozy campfire. Lapsang Souchong tea leaves are withered over pine or cypress to infuse a woody scent, and then dried over a smoking pine fire. This unique savory flavor profile is surprising at first, but quickly grows on you. Try it paired with a hearty breakfast of bacon and eggs.

This smoky black tea divides opinion with its intense pine-smoke flavor. Customers said it's "like sipping a delicious campfire" with outstanding quality. Many love its unique taste, calling it "smooth" and "delicious," perfect for coffee replacement. However, some find it too smoky. Most agree the flavor is an acquired taste that grows on you.

I love this tea

I love this tea. So flavorful, and it is replacing my coffee! However, I’ve realized I’ve been using waaaaay too much! I’ve been putting 2 tablespoons for 1 pint glass! Yikes! I’ll cut down, but I still love the flavor!!!!

I drink a couple of cups in the morning, but

I drink a couple of cups in the morning, but recently I’ve been enjoying it over ice. One heaping teaspoon makes two cups in my thermos. Even if it sits in the thermos all day it’s still good. I was first introduced to Lapsang while watching the movie Phantom Thread with Daniel Day Lewis and I’ve enjoyed its smokiness ever since. I’ve mixed it with other dark teas such as Earl Grey also.

This tea is VERY smoky in smell and flavor. You have to LOVE this smell/taste to enjoy the tea. Personally not to my liking. The quality of the tea is OUTSTANDING. So i will not knock the WK at all even though i only rated tbe tea 2 stars….which is for taste/flavor only. WK gets a 5* in my book.

Lapsang Souchong

I was introduced to this wonderful smoky black tea by my son's late father in law when I visited them in Doha, Qatar. I fell in love with it immediately, I have mine with a teaspoon of honey.

Almost like drinking a cup of campfire. Has a nice black tea flavor that mellows out with the smokiness.

Lapsang Souchong

This is an amazing truly Earthy taste sensation with the truly unique and unforgettable fragrance that is hit or miss with the uninitiated. The tea that's presented from this fine establishment is unfathomably rich, robust, just freaking delicious

Smokey, yet satisfying

I got this tea on a whim and panicked when I received it. I was highly skeptical when I smelled it. It really does smell like a campfire. Once I was finally brave enough to take the plunge, I discovered this tea is actually wonderful! You do get a hint of smoke but more like that whiff that clings to your hair after sitting by the fire. It is an incredibly smooth tasting tea and I actually really enjoyed it.

Not for everyone

I dumped the pot after the first sip... the smell put me off but thought maybe the flavor would be okay but it was equally bad. Tastes like I'm trying to steep burnt ash from a campfire..

Didn’t like the smell

Thought it would be like “secret village” tea but it was not very good.

Lapsang Souchong

This is an remarkable tea: silky, light body with a hint of smokiness. I haven't had a cup of Lapsang Souchong for many years, but it has long been a favorite. I am so very thankful that I've found a great source for it. The Whistling Kettle's supply is of exceptional quality. If you're unfamiliar with this tea and are looking for something distinctive—give it a try!

Switching from coffee made easier

This tea and its unique smell and flavor made my transition from coffee to tea smoother. Not saying its at all coffee strength or flavor, it has a hint of smoke that makes it so enjoyable. I ordered a pack of sample teas, and this one stands out beyond the others to me.

Unique, smoky tea

This is my favorite tea next to Whistling Kettle's Secret Village (and the now apparently discontinued Nine Bend Black Dragon). I pretty much start every week with this tea. Back when I worked in an office, my coworkers always knew when I brewed Lapsang and they called it "bacon tea".

Very smoky!

I am trying some different black teas. I had never had a smoky tea before. It was a bit too smoky for me, but I can see how people who enjoy smoky drinks, like Laphroaig, would really love this. Glad I gave it a try!

SURPRISINGLY DELICIOUS

When I opened the packet, the smell was overpowering, and I thought I wouldn't like it. I brewed and tasted it and was really surprised at the taste. I loved it. I tried the 2nd cup with a bit of honey and even better! I brewed a 3rd cup and put both honey and a little milk but didn't care for the milk as much. It's delicious when I got past the smell :) I am experimenting with loose teas again after several years passed after the company I bought probably a ton of different teas from went out of business. I have to try the other flavors, but this one was most surprising given the taste is so nice after you get past the smoky pine smell. Lovely tea. It's not one I'd have on a regular basis, but to have on hand for a change.

Fantastic, unique tea!

First of all, you have to like smoke as a flavor. If you do, look no further. Awesome combination of full-bodied black tea and smokey flavor. Best with a not-as-sweet honey, like buckwheat. HIGHLY recommended.

Amazing smoky tea!!

The main thing you need to know about this tea is that their description ("an intense pine-smoke flavor") is not an understatement. When they say "intense," they mean it. So if you like smoky black teas, you'll love this. It has a delicious tobacco-like aroma that hits you right out of the bag and fills the room as it's brewing. It also handles milk really well (not sure about sugar since I never use any in my tea). I like flavors like this (think peaty Scotch whisky or mezcal), so this tea is absolutely wonderful. I'll be ordering a full-size bag soon!

It IS acquired

When I first opened this bag and smelled the smoky flavor, I was not sure I was gonna like this tea. I tried it, and I thought it was ok. I tried it a few more times and liked it more each time. Once you get used to the pine taste mixed with your black tea, this is actually a very delightful choice!
