Anti-Strain

I was exploring Ayurvedic teas and my son stopped in Whistling Kettle in Troy and got this for me as a present. I love it! It’s so calming and perfect to sip at my desk at work - a treat!

I first gave this flavor a try since it contains many of the same notes as my usual go-to relaxation tea from Aveda (if you've ever been to one of their stores or salons, you'd be offered a cup). This WK blend is SO much better! The smoothly sweet hint of licorice and cinnamon perfectly balances the fresh ginger and cardamom spice notes, and finishes with an uplifting orange zing. Pairs so well with a small dose of rock crystal sugar, but it may be sweet enough to go without. My husband's not usually a tea drinker, but this tea made him a convert. We go through enough, especially in the colder months, to justify splurging on a monthly subscription. Definitely our staple tea flavor!

I tried Anti-Strain by The Whistling Kettle. I steeped 4 grams in 12 ounces of 212 degree water for 7 minutes. I really loved this herbal blend! The licorice root and fennel give it the perfect amount of sweetness, the cinnamon and ginger are very warming, the orange peel gives it a bright citrus note, and the cardamom is a nice aromatic addition. I really enjoyed this! This is something I will definitely be reaching for when I’m sick, and I think it would be amazing with a little honey and a squeeze of lemon. (Who am I kidding - I’m going to reach for this even when I’m not sick. 😊) This will be great for the upcoming autumn and winter months as well.

The ingredients in this tea are so perfect for after a hot, spicy meal or before bed. The natural sweetness will have me buying and drinking more!

I love this tea, the cinnamon is just a little sweet, and goes so well with the licorice. None of the individual flavors are overwhelming.
