One of the oldest green tea varieties from China, Pinhead Gunpowder was originally called 'Zhu Cha', which translates to 'Pearl Tea'. Later, it became known to the Western world by its British nickname, Gunpowder Tea. The unique method of rolling the tea into tiny pellets preserves the flavor and aroma in the leaf. This green tea brews a full-bodied cup with nutty notes and a hint of smoky depth.
For the best tasting cup we recommend the following:
8 fl oz
195° F
1/2 tsp
3 minutes
Pinhead gunpowder green tea is consistently described as high-grade loose leaf with a strong, smoky-earthy flavor—only a small amount is needed and it’s versatile for hot, iced, blends, or brewing kombucha/jun; reviewers also note it’s low-caffeine but can provide a mild energy lift. A few customers reported fulfillment or service issues (missing or mis‑labeled shipments and difficulty contacting support), though at least one wrong order was refunded.
