Wakoucha is a Japanese black tea. Yes, you read that correctly. In a country most known for green tea, Wakoucha is a rare gem indeed.
This organic Wakoucha brews a clear amber red and has a sweet aroma with hints of honey. It has a sweet and malty flavor with hints of stone fruit and chrysanthemum.
This is a rare tea indeed as the best Wakoucha comes from the summer harvest, when tea plants are hit hardest by pests. Being an organic tea there are no pesticides used, making the plants even more susceptible and rare.
For the best tasting cup we recommend the following:
10 fl oz
195° F
5 grams
1-2 minutes
Brews to a rich amber-red with a pleasant aroma and is preferred by some over Earl Grey because it lacks bergamot. Smooth and lighter-bodied—doesn't have the heavy, bitter bite that some black teas do.
