A deep, smoky aroma wafts from the cup, like the smell of a cozy campfire. Lapsang Souchong tea leaves are withered over pine or cypress to infuse a woody scent, and then dried over a smoking pine fire. This unique savory flavor profile is surprising at first, but quickly grows on you. Try it paired with a hearty breakfast of bacon and eggs.

This is a very intense, pine/campfire‑smoky Lapsang Souchong that’s polarizing—if you love peaty Scotch or smoky flavors you’ll likely adore it, but many find the aroma and taste overpowering. Whistling Kettle’s version is high‑quality, surprisingly smooth once brewed (bag smell is often stronger than the cup), and drinks well with a touch of honey (buckwheat) or milk to tame the smoke.
