Wakoucha is a Japanese black tea. Yes, you read that correctly. In a country most known for green tea, Wakoucha is a rare gem indeed. This organic Wakoucha brews a clear amber red and has a sweet aroma with hints of honey. It has a sweet and malty flavor with hints of stone fruit and chrysanthemum. When one thinks of Oolong, Japan isn't a growing region that typically comes to mind. Most oolongs are Chinese in origin with Taiwanese high-mountain oolong teas becoming quite well regarded as of late. This example of the Oolong variety changes things.
