Pot of Golden Starfruit Refresher
What's a Refresher?
According to Starbucks, a refresher is "made with green coffee extract, a natural source of energy, and real fruit juice to create a thirst-quenching, low calorie beverage".
Green tea is a great way to get in your caffeine intake. Green tea naturally contains caffeine - a typical cup of green tea falls in the range of 25-45 mg of caffeine per 8oz cup.
In addition to the energy boost it can provide, green tea is one of the healthiest beverages you can drink and is very high in antioxidants. Green tea can be combined with natural or artificial flavors. Natural flavors are derived from fruits, plant, spices and other natural ingredients.
A Pot of Gold-en Starfruit and Mango!
Green tea can be combined with dried fruits to create a fruity refreshment. For this refresher, meet Golden Starfruit tea. Exotic and radiant, it lights up this fruity trifecta of starfruit, papaya, and mango. Golden Starfruit tea is the ultimate summer thirst quencher, especially iced. In cooler months, sip it hot to beat the winter blues with its playful, tropical flavors.
This refresher is a natural and delicious non-alcoholic drink that can be enjoyed daily! It contains just enough caffeine to give you a mid-day boost without being overpowering. The best part is that it only takes 3 ingredients: tea, mango puree and ice! Easily make this ahead of time in bulk and have a refreshing drink ready to go.
Pot of Gold-en
- Servings: 2-3
- Yield: 2-3 servings
What You Need
- The Conflicted Iced Tea Brewer or tea bag with large 32oz mason jar
- 4 tbsp Golden Starfruit loose-leaf tea
- ice cubes
- 1-2 tbsp Mango Puree
- 24 oz filtered water (for steeping tea)
- Starfruit slices (optional)
Add 4 tbsp of Golden Starfruit loose-leaf tea into your infuser/tea bag. We suggest getting one scoop of just starfruit pieces to enhance the starfruit flavor.
Heat up 24 oz of filtered water to 195 degrees Fahrenheit. Pour over tea infuser/tea bag.
Let steep for 3 minutes, then remove infuser/tea bag.
Let sit for 30 minutes until the tea reaches room temperature - you may add ice cubes to speed up this process. Then put into the refrigerator until ready to use.
Steep your Golden Starfruit loose-leaf tea (see Steeping Instructions above).
Fill your glass 3/4 the way with ice cubes. Then pour in 1-2 tbsp of mango puree.
Pour in the Golden Starfruit iced tea concentrate into your glass.
Stir iced tea and mango puree until completely combined.
Sip and enjoy! To take this drink a step further, you can slice a starfruit and add the slices into your drink.
Try cold brewing your tea for the strongest flavor! You can cold brew your tea overnight by adding cold, filtered water over your loose-leaf tea instead of hot water and let it sit for 6-24 hours.
Keep in mind that if you add ice to cool down the tea, it will dilute the flavor. Make sure not to add too much ice while the tea is still warm.
For extra aesthetic and flavor, you can slice up a fresh starfruit and add this into your drink. This is optional - especially since there's already dried starfruit in the tea being brewed.
