Description

We invite you to try a tea that quickly captured our hearts as one of our favorite pure black teas in our line up. Complex and floral with rich notes of cacao, Secret Village Tea brews a smooth and silky cup. Unlike most black teas, it needs less than a minute to steep and has virtually no bitterness. It is hand processed in the remote Tong Mu village high in the mountains of Fujian Province, China. Access to the village is strictly limited to keep their natural environment in pristine condition. Grown in verdant, mountain tea gardens, Secret Village Tea is among the world's finest.

Perfection

This is a truly exceptional tea that shifted my perspective on what tea can taste like. It's almost certainly the best tea I've ever had and it's definitely one of the most unique. There's a smokiness to it that is perfectly smooth and also somehow earthy-sweet in the most addictive way. So complex. Toasty, yet fresh at the same time. It's delicious brewed as instructed, but it also won't turn the least bit bitter no matter how long I brew it for. It re-brews well for a second cup, if I steep it longer than instructed. Deceptively strong for such nuanced flavor. Honestly, I'm a bit distraught that it's out of stock now that I'm due to re-order.

Just try it

It is smooth and delicious. Easily one of my favorites. And the quick brewing time is helpful in the morning. It's a unique flavor that must be tried.

The best tea I’ve ever had

I’m an unapologetic tea snob- loose leaf high quality teas are my addiction. Secret Village Tea is my new number 1 favorite tea EVER.

I make a big pot of high quality tea every day for me, my husband and our two teen daughters. This tea is so good my coffee drinking husband stole my second cup the first day. Consequently I made it in the BIG brown betty three days in a row and he kept unapologetically snitching mine!
I do not want to ever run out of this tea so I grabbed two of the big bags. It really is that amazing!!

I did it according to the directions first- a one minute and then two minute infusion. Both are truly excellent!! However this tea really knocked our socks off with a 3 minute 200 degree infusion with a small dollop of honey and oat milk barista creamer. Zero bitterness and the oat milk creamer and honey brought out this kind of natural toasted butterscotch flavor that was ridiculously addictive!!! It kept you coming back for just one more sip. Mouthwatering depths to this tea- fragrant, intense, hearty and incredibly satisfying. Every sip my hubby and where like- do you taste that?!

Seriously I cannot recommend this tea strongly enough!!

Secret no more

Just finished my Secret Village black tea. This is an excellent strong and tasty Chinese variety. Always on the lookout for good teas and experiment with tea suppliers all over the US.
This is a keeper.

good

I liked this tea. It has a slightly yammy flavor, but still with a strong tea flavor. I prefer golden monkey which has a stronger yam flavor, but if that's not your cup of tea (hehheh) then this one is also delicious.

Pleasant roasty-toasty aroma

This tea is pretty good. The aroma is the best part. I wouldn't say it smells or even has notes of toasted rice at all, but it definitely has some sort of pleasantly mild roast-toast smell to it. I don't detect the floral/fruity notes per the description. But overall it's a nice, smooth tea. I tried it with milk and didn't like that. It's best enjoyed on its on in my opinion because the flavor is subtle. First re-steep is kind of weak. Note that the directions from time and temperature differ from what's on the page here vs on the bag of loose leaf.

Found My Black Tea

I love this tea - earthy, but with a vanilla sweet underflavor. A little creamer and perfect morning cup!

Wild rice in a cup.

This is not a tea I would normally order as I tend to like the flavoured black teas. The name intrigued me, so I thought I would give it a try. Someone commented that it has a rice flavour.......I will go a step further and say it has a wild rice flavour and smell. Wild rice is grown and processed in our area of Canada and the smell and taste is wonderful. This tea doesn’t make the “my favourite “ list, but I will order it again.

My new favorite tea

I'm a huge fan of pure black tea. This one is my current favorite. It is smooth and rich in flavor. I like my tea strong so I steep it for 9-10 minutes and this tea is never bitter.

An excellent tea!!

Secret Village Tea is one of the best teas we have tasted! It has a very smooth flavor with a floral finish that is enhanced with a little half and half.
Although it is a bit pricey, it is worth every penny!

Very Good

I am not a black tea fan and far prefer green teas. However, I decided to try the Secret Village Tea because the name sounded so cool. What I noticed is that it tasted really fresh and although I still favor green teas, this black tea has me rethinking how I feel about them. It’s good. It’s very good.
