Big Red Robe (Da Hong Pao)

Pure Oolong Tea

Legend had it that this tea got it's name after high ranking official of the king fell sick. Monks from the Fujian province where this tea grows brought some of this tea and restored the officers back to health. The monks didn't want money, so to return the favor the official gave his red robe to the monks as thanks. This highly fermented oolong is roasted lightly to highlight the distinctive mineral notes. Savor your tea experience a little longer with 'Big Red' - newly sourced for an even more authentic flavor!

I liked it

I had never tried a Dao Hung Pao before so I didn't know what to expect. That being said, I found it to be a very smooth cup of tea. I didn't find the taste too harsh or minerally at all. Pleasantly surprised.

Full bodied goodness

Not all Oolong is the same, and while some are very light and delicate, this is not that! This was a warm, full bodied, nutty tea which is closer to the black side than the green side, which is how I prefer my Oolongs.

Great Dao Hung Pao for price

I've sampled several different versions of this tea, while there are some better, they are not THAT much better and MUCH more expensive. This is like one of the wines that would be rated 89, very drinkable and it has those notes of minerals that I like.
