Aztec Spice Pu-Erh
Spice up your day with this chocolate-drenched cinnamon Pu-erh. A hint of chili pepper gives this chocolaty tea just enough kick to get you going.
Pu-erh Tea, Cinnamon, Honeybush, Cocoa Nibs, Safflower, Chili Flakes, Ground Chocolate* (sugar, cocoa-processed w/alkali, unsweetened chocolate, soy lecithin, vanilla), Natural Flavors (Contains Soy)
Deep earthy notes, rich chocolate and a spicy finish
Well blended tea. Not spicy but has a good "spice kick" feeling.
I came to Whistling Kettle looking specifically for chocolates (I had only one other provider with only one chocolate tea). Whistling Kettle has 6 right now. They are:
Aztec Spice, Chocolate Chai, Mocha Latte, Belgian Chocolate, Salted Caramel Chocolate, and Chocolate Monkey. A great spread. I limited myself to choosing only two favorites since I wanted to purchase bulk 8 ounces which will last quite a while. My favorites are the Aztec Spice and the Salted Caramel (for now:-). It was not easy to narrow all these 6 choices! If I have a 3rd choice it would probably be the Chocolate Monkey.
So here is my review of the "Aztec Spice". It is a Puer (usually and aged black tea). It has 3 different kinds of chocolate, plus chili flakes and vanilla, and a few other spices. Don't let the chili flakes deter you! And Vanilla is an accepted partner for chocolate. These ingredients and the others go back a Millenium or so in the central a south american cultures. Aztec Spice has a smooth feel over the palate and a bit of zip from the chili and cinnamon. It can be re-brewed at least once (with an additional 1/2 tsp spoonful fresh). It is wonderful piping hot as well as Iced. I is also a great compliment to ice cream or gelato. I would suggest a mint flavor. So, more to come later on my 2nd choice of "Salted Caramel Chocolate"!
I love the subtle spice kick of this tea! Perfect to warm you up on a cool day.
This tea is one of my personal favorites. For those of you who enjoy a spiced tea, this one is "perfect" in my opinion. The spices accent the chocolate perfectly giving it a spiced hot chocolate flavor. Well worth the extra money for the purchase over similar teas.
This pu-erh tea offers a delightfully balanced blend of chocolate, chili flakes and cinnamon. It's perfect on a cold day but have recently tried it over ice with a dash of cream--delicious!
