With new studies being published on a regular basis showing that tea can help in this regard, there is a lot of buzz surrounding the topic and quite a bit of research that seems to back it up. We’ve combed through much of this research and found which teas can help you in pursuit of your weight goals and how they do this.

All Traditional Teas – Help boost metabolism

All traditional teas can assist with weight loss due to their caffeine content. Caffeine slightly increases your resting metabolism, resulting in more calories burned over time. Concentrations of this compound in the teas listed above are in descending order, with White Teas having the most, with Oolongs having the least.

Pu-Erh Teas – Assist with fat storage after meals

Pu-Erh teas have been shown to help regulate the hormones that control how much fat is used for energy and how much fat is stored by the body. More specifically, Pu-Erhs help enhance the amount of fat used for energy and inhibit the amount of fat is stored in fat cells throughout the body. These types of tea are particularly effective during or slightly after meals.
