Easy summer sangria recipe with blood orange tea
This is a super tasty signature tea cocktail that's easy and delicious. And it's a crowd favorite because it isn't labor intensive and can be easily scaled up - just multiply the ingredients for the number of servings you need. Not only is this economical to make, but it isn't particularly high in alcohol, so you can enjoy a large serving without getting wasted.
Equipment you'll need:
No specialized cocktail gear needed except something to brew the tea. If you have a tea pot with a strainer basket, you are already set. You can also get loose tea bags to brew in any sort of stove top pot. And if all else fails, just throw the tea into a pot of boiling water and strain it out with a sieve.
Ingredients you need:
- Blood orange or other citrus tisane (see other recommendations below)
- Lemonade (fresh or concentrate)
- Sparkling White Wine
Make this delicious easy summer sangria recipe in 5 easy steps!
Step 1: Ice the tea
This recipe uses blood orange tisane, but you can use any other tisane. What is the difference between a tisane and tea? Tea contains tea leaves, while tisanes are pieces of fruit or other floral ingredients, but no tea. Tisanes are much more fruit forward, which is why we use it for this recipe. You can use any other similar citrus ones as well.
Icing the tea consists of brewing a 2 x concentrate or roughly double the tea you would normally use or using about half the water. For additional information on how to ice - check out this article.
Step 2: Fill 16 ounce glass with ice.
Step 3: Add 1/3 cup of tea from step 1.
Step 4: Add the sparkling wine. We use Cava Brut for our recipe. You can often purchase these in smaller 187ml bottles, perfect to keep in a fridge whenever you need it.
Step 5: Add 1/2 cup of lemonade. Keep some frozen concentrate in your fridge so you can make some whenever you need it.
