Day 3: Creamy Cinnamon Chai Whiskey Latte​

If you're looking for a drink that your guests will love - try this! Nothing beats the cold like a hot latte. Chai is full of cozy herbs, making it one of the best holiday drinks!

Chai, another word for "tea" in Hindi, is full of herbs that benefit digestion, such as ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, and more. Made of black tea, it's also stimulating to your metabolism, to keep up with the holiday feasting!

WHAT YOU NEED:​

(Makes 2-4 servings)

  • 1 large infuser or disposable, loose-leaf paper tea bags
  • 3 cups filtered water
  • 3 tbsp loose-leaf Decaf Cinnamon Chai (or any Chai tea!)
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream (or dairy alternative of choice)
  • 4 tbsp sugar (or sweetener of choice)
  • Electric frother
  • 3 oz vanilla whiskey (optional)
  • Ground cinnamon (to garnish)

(Makes 1-2 servings)


  1. Heat 8oz of water until 180 F
  2. Add 2 tbsp Plum Cake tea in a large infuser basket or disposable, fillable tea bag.
  3. Submerge infuser or tea bag and steep for 3 minutes.
  4. Remove infuser or tea bag.
  5. Sift the vanilla matcha into a small bowl.
  6. Add 4oz of hot tea to the matcha powder and whisk until completely dissolved without any lumps.
  7. Add your choice of sweetener to the matcha mixture.
  8. Continue to whisk until your sweetener dissolves and bubbles form on top.
  9. Pour matcha into a glass.
  10. Heat up your milk or dairy alternative until steaming, do not boil.
  11. Froth together until desired foaminess.
  12. Add frothed milk to your cup of matcha.
  13. Top off your glass with whipped cream for a more indulgent experience.
  14. Sprinkle some matcha powder on top & enjoy!

Notes

If you're looking for a caffeine boost, try this recipe using our Vanilla Chai! For an extra kick of cinnamon, add a cinnamon stick into your tea when brewing. We don't recommend using ground cinnamon in the drink as it will add a gritty texture to the drink.


Skip the whiskey for an alcohol-free warm and cozy cinnamon latte. If you choose to omit the whiskey, we recommend using milk or a dairy alternative rather than heavy cream.


If you don't have a frother, heat the milk in the microwave or a pan and pulse a few times in a blender. You can also shake it in a mason jar - just be careful to not make the milk too hot.
