Green tea for diabetes
Besides the research showing how drinking green tea can help people prevent the onset of diabetes. But green tea is also good if you are already diagnosed with diabetes. The polyphoenols in green tea help reduce oxidative stress and widens the arteries, decreasing blood pressure, prevents clotting and reduces cholesterol. All these activities reduce the risk of heart disease, which is elevated in people with diabetes.
Through a complex bio-chemical reaction, tea can help sensitize cells so they are better able to metabolize sugar. And green tea helps the metabolic system function better.
Matcha for diabetes
Matcha is a ground up form of green tea that is dissolved in water and consumed. This means you are drinking the tea leaf, not just the infusion. Plus, the soluble fiber in Matcha is beneficial for those with diabetes.
Purple and White Tea
While green tea is often discussed because it is the most popular tea with high levels of anti-oxidants, Purple Tea and White tea are also in the same category (in fact is some cases they may contain even more polyphoenols)
Hibiscus for diabetes
Hibiscus is also worth a look. There are numerous studies linking hibiscus with lower blood sugar and enhancing blood-cholesterol levels. It is also rich in anti-oxidants.
