Insomnia

Most of us know the feeling.... Dead tired, feeling wrung out, and a lack of energy due, all due to the lack of sleep. Yet, despite this, you cannot fall asleep. You are always tired, but never sleepy... you are suffering from insomnia. Insomnia effects most of us at one point or another due to illness, stress, physical concerns, or any other number of issues that may arise. However, there are those among us that will face insomnia that extends for a length of time longer than a day or two, or it happens more than just once a while. This person would be suffering from chronic insomnia, and is likely to require help for this condition. While there is a plethora of options that include cognitive therapy, behavioral modification, and medication, there are a number of cases where these treatments have been shown to be ineffective in a large number of patients. Luckily, there are a number of natural treatment options that may work for some patients who suffer from insomnia. There are herbs, such as valerian, lavender, spearmint, chamomile, kava kava, St. John's Wort, and rosebuds (just to name a few). Most of these can be taken or steeped into a tea for a combination of the calming effect that is offered by tea. Trying this cannot harm you, and in many case may be incredibly helpful. Try herbal teas as a natural remedy for insomnia.
