Heartburn / Acid Reflux

Heartburn / Acid Reflux

Heartburn, or Acid Reflux Disease (sometimes called ARD, or it might be referred to as GERD in some cases) is a painful condition where there is a burning sensation in the chest, oftentimes it is accompanied by excessive gas and nausea, and occasionally the sufferer will also experience a bad or bitter taste in the mouth and a hacking, dry cough. Even more unfortunate is that, oftentimes, the way to heal is to rest. However, while at a state of rest the symptoms or ARD and GERD often worsen, making this a particularly troublesome ailment to have to deal with. There are plenty of reasons for this condition - these can include ulcerations, a damaged stomach lining, overeating, genetic predisposition, and obesity. To help combat these risks the medical community has developed a number of prescription and over the counter drugs to help with this condition. For a number of years tea has been considered a culprit in propagating ARD due to the caffeine that is present, which is considered a "food risk factor". However, going with teas that are light in caffeine, such as white teas, green teas, herbal teas, and some Pu-Erh teas may actually prove to be beneficial in your ongoing battle against ARD and GERD.
