The Blue Zone diet recommends tea, and we've formulated this one to be one of our official Blue Zone inspired blends. We designed this blend to incorporate the powerful anti-oxidants found in Purple tea but with added herbs that provide anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds. This blend has a very low amount of caffeine. Purple tea is a mountain grown tea from Kenya very simular to Green tea. Besides the anti-oxidants found in green tea, purple tea contain anthocyanins, the same compound found in blueberries and black beans.

This provides a great base for this particular tea, with herbs that help maintain a youthful appearance.

SKIN TONE AND GREY HAIR - Nettle Leaf, which contains abundant minerals. It is also great for allergies

MENTAL FOCUS, ENERGY, BODY TONING - Roses are high in malic acid, which helps increase mental focus and boosts energy. It is an essential component in the krebs cycle, a process that turns carbs and fats into energy and water.

HEALTHIER HAIR AND NAILS. Horsetail. It is high in silica, which are the building blocks for hair and nails.

For IMPROVED SKIN TEXTURE AND CALCIUM ABSORPTION. Oat straw. You'll often find this in supplement form and in various creams.

TO RELIEVE ACNE AND ECZEMA, we want a dose of alpha-hydroxy, so we chose our old mineral rich South African friend - Rooibos, also known as Red Bush tea.

TO PREVENT BROKEN CAPILLARIES. Rose hips which also happen to be high in vitamin C.

IMPROVED SKIN TONE - Fragrant Jasmine blossoms..helps the skin but also smells good and add a nice pleasant taste.

COMPLEXION - Cinnamon chips are our choice, which also has natural anti-bacterial properties.

REDUCE INFLAMMATION, HELP DIGESTION, BONE STRENGTH AND BRAIN FUNCTION - Sage is often found in teas from blue zones, such as those in Greece.

How often to take this tea? A 12-16 ounce serving once a day is fine, and the lighter body makes it a good all day sipper. You can also ice this beverage as well. There is a small amount of caffeine in Purple tea, but very low compared to black tea and on average lower than most green teas. Even so, it does boost metabolism so you probably will want to avoid drinking directly before bed.

I just had my first cup of this tea and I am impressed. It still has the inherent pleasant taste of purple tea with notes of the herbs. I bought this tea because I do love purple tea and I also wanted to see how well the anti-inflammatory aspects of the tea performed. I would certainly purchase this tea again and it is a new favorite. (Posted on 11/2/2017)
