The blend has as its base a Sencha style green tea manufactured in Hunan Province in South Eastern China. Interestingly, green and black teas can be produced from the same plants. Green tea is produced by forgoing the fermentation process required to produce black tea. Instead, the leaves are steamed as soon as they are plucked, and then bruised either by machine or by hand. The leaves are then pan-fried or basket fired - a process that gives the tea its distinctive glossy look and feel. Sencha green teas typically have dark green, needle shaped leaves and produce a pale green to yellow, very bright, smooth cup with a sweetish, honey like finish. The natural sweetness of this green tea makes it perfectly suited for blending with our dried gogiberries. You’ll notice that we’ve also added lemongrass  to the to enhance the visual qualities of the tea.

The goji berry is also called the wolfberry. It is a bright orange-red berry that comes from a shrub that's native to China. In Asia, goji berries have been eaten for generations in the hopes of living longer.

Over time, people have used goji berries to treat many common health problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, fever, and age-related eye problems. Goji berries are eaten raw, cooked, or dried (like raisins) and are used in herbal teas, juices, wines, and medicines.

What Are the Benefits of Goji Berries?

Research shows that eating berries -- like blueberries, acai berries, cranberries, strawberries, and cherries -- offers some definite health benefits. Berries like the goji berry are filled with powerful antioxidants and other compounds that may help prevent cancer and other illnesses, including heart disease. Antioxidants may also boost the immune system and lower cholesterol.

Eating foods high in antioxidants may slow the aging process as well. It does this by minimizing damage from free radicals that injure cells and damage DNA. When a cell's DNA changes, the cell grows abnormally. Antioxidants can take away the destructive power of free radicals. By doing so, antioxidants help reduce the risk of some serious diseases.

Goji berries also have compounds rich in vitamin A that may have anti-aging benefits. These special compounds help boost immune function, protect vision, and may help prevent heart disease.

Some research suggests that goji berry extracts may boost brain health and may protect against age-related diseases such as Alzheimer's.

Other studies using goji berry juice founds benefits in mental well-being, and calmness, athletic performance, happiness, quality of sleep, and feelings of good health. These are preliminary studies that need to be repeated before definitive conclusions can be drawn.

My Husband's Absolute favorite teaReview by Kate

My husband LOVES THIS TEA!!! He feels so good when he has a cup every morning and the great thing about this tea is that you can re-steep this green tea and the second cup still comes out really great. He hates to run out of it because if he starts drinking coffee while he is waiting for more to arrive he doesn't feel good until he gets back on drinking the green tea again! If you like fruity green tea, you will love this! (Posted on 12/16/2017)

Instant smileReview by DC
I was just enrolled in the tea of the month club as a gift. I switched from loose leaf teas to coffee 5-6 years ago. Lately I have been drinking boxed teas. I asked for Whistling Teas glass tea pot and tea of month from my mom.

WOW, as the first loose leaf tea I've had in years, this was a perfect welcome back. The moment you start steeping it, the aroma opens your senses. And as you taste the first sip, it gives you an instant smile.

It is a perfect blend of tea with the added fruitiness. It truly made me feel like I was drinking a cup of tea at a Fine Hotel. It has enough sweetness that you don't need to add sugar. It is a hint of spring coming as the taste explodes with flavor.

Thank you for this selection in your tea of the month club, I would have never tried it otherwise. (Posted on 1/17/2014)
Very delicious and refreshing!Review by Joshua
Goji berries are very underrated, especially in the realm of teas. I would honestly say that this is my favorite tea. It has a crisp but still smooth taste. It tastes good without sweetener because of the natural fruit flavors.

It took me a while to find this type of tea online to be ordered but finally found it here!

I would say that the fruit flavor is not overwhelming but rather calm and infused into the subtleness of the rest of the tea.

Also tastes good with raw sugar or honey (honey accents the fruit flavor better in my opinion, though).

A tea for anytime, but a very hot cup of this tea is relaxing and can be a dessert drink for myself. (Posted on 9/4/2013)
