The Oolong variant of Darjeeling tea can come in two varieties: one is the Clonal type and the other is China type.  Darjeeling Oolong typically uses the second flush which has thicker cup characteristics and a dark orange liquor with distinct Muscatel flavours. Furthermore,  the China type has the more sought after cup characteristics and therefore is the preferred variety. Due to it's limited yields, it is also more expensive.

All Darjeeling Gardens are not qualified to produce Darjeeling Oolong. The following characteristics must be present:

1. Altitude (High Altitude at 3000 ft above sea level) is required.
2. Old China bush (Chesima) concentration of at least 40%
3. Area should not see excessivly high temperatures
4. Average temperature should remain 5–20 °C throughout the season.

Darjeeling Oolong teas are made from finely plucked leaves usually two leaf and a bud. Our Darjeeling Oolong uses only top quality Chinese trees, plucked in small quantities and processed by hand. It hasd a shiny, bronze colored infusion with a muscatel and wood notes and a amazing aroma. The large, open Oolong leaf with a broad pallete of rich wood colors and longish silvery tips exemplifies the top quality of this tea.
